Microstructural characterization and mechanical properties of Inconel 625 wall fabricated by GTAW-based WAAM using stringer bead and circular weaving pattern

Abstract In this work, Inconel 625 alloy was used to manufacture walls using the Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) technology, which is based on Gas Tungsten Welding (GTAW). The wall fabricated a circular weave and stringer bead pattern. Microstructural analysis tensile characteristics were evaluated for both walls. Using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), elemental mapping, fracture zones of specimens examined. microstructure mostly made up equiaxed dendrites, with rare presence continuous discontinuous cellular dendrites along cross-section. tests, weaved performed better than specimen had an ultimate strength (UTS) 762 MPa in horizontal 722 vertical orientations. Also, showed anisotropic behavior (5.3%) during testing. morphology revealed that all fractured as result large plastic deformation, corresponding ductile failure. Based EDS results, zone mainly consists Ni Cr small percentage Nb Mo. absence laves phases makes mode ductile. mapping shows uniform dispersion within region, further supporting failure mode.
